My last entry made Mimi cry. I'm sorry. I hope it wasn't a bad experience. I realize crying isn't always bad.

But here's something for us to celebrate.

I just mailed off the check that makes me debt-free (well except for the house). And I did it with money from my father.

He has been trying to get sole ownership of land that has been jointly owned by him, me, my sister and my brother. It was my grandparents' farm, and he lives there now with his new baby wife (younger than my little sister). When he first asked for the land, he tried to con us into signing it over, saying our names would be put back on a new deed. But I know that my father lies to get what he wants. So my sister and I discussed it (my brother caved) and hesitated long enough for him to offer us money. I got some good advice from a friend and got part of the money up front. With that money I just paid off my credit card bills. All of them!

The friend who advised me to get some money up front also helped me with a new promissory note (he sent a one-paragraph note that had no legal basis). After I sent him the new promissory note he (his wife?) sent an e-mail saying that I obviously wanted all the money before I would sign the deed over to them. I'm not sure where that came from, but - okay.

If he comes through with this check we will put a hot tub in at the Rancho! Can you think of a better way to spend my father's check than to put in a hot tub to be shared by the four of us?

Okay, I thought of a different way, if not better, to spend some of it. Several of you have asked about sending postage money for the books I'm giving away. I told Muhler to consider it on my father and I would explain later. Here's my explaination. With the extra money from the first check, I get the joy of sending pornography out to a hungry world. So don't sweat it. Hey, there are still books left if anyone else wants any. And as soon as I can get Badsnake to go through the other pile I have more to list. So go to her site and encourage her to make time to go through these books and see if she wants to keep any of them. (after she cleans off the baker's rack) Then I can offer more to you.
